The entire school’s talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee’s no ordinary high-school junior. She’s a banshee—she screams when someone dies.

But the next scream might be for Kaylee.

Yeah—it’s a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee’s going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend’s needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren’t quite human, either.

But Kaylee’s borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.

Review :

“You just say the word, and I’ll make the rest of the world go away. I’ll take you someplace safe, where no one else can reach us.”

Two words – Simply Amazing!

This sure was one hell of a book & so far best of them all. It was a fast engaging read that kept me at the edge of my seat. It was the only book in the series so far that I really didn’t want to put down. I was so engrossed with this book, it hooked me from the very first page. The characters were as awesome as ever, Kaylee & Tod 😀 The chemistry is incredibly well written, it’s electrifying. Although I do feel sorry for Nash here. If I Die is a spectacular addition to the Soul Screamers series, and one that you will all love.

At the beginning of If I Die, Kaylee is told that she only has six days to live. Six days and then it’s the end. Kaylee is incredibly shocked but she tries to hold it together. All the things she will never do fly through her mind. She has six days to do whatever she wants, but things aren’t easy in Kaylee’s world. An Incubus starts teaching at Kaylee’s school and begins making moves on the girls. He’s in desperate need of a son but he only has a specific time to accomplish it. Kaylee needs to sort out the problem so her friends will be safe when she dies. The thing is nobody knows how to get rid of this incubus and Kaylee only has six days. Six days that fly by and things change so much.
Kaylee is put through a lot in this book. She has to come with terms with her death and that she will miss out on so many life experiences. We see her pain and anger and sorrow. And we’re there beside her feeling the same things. We just want to hug Kaylee and tell her things will be ok. She’s still strong willed and will do anything to make sure her friends will be ok after her death. Like always she puts their safety before her own.

We get to learn more about Tod in If I Die. We learn more about his history and how much he is willing to lose for Kaylee. We see how much he cares and if anyone deserves Kaylee its Tod. They are perfect together, I only hope it lasts. Tod, I wish you were my prince charming.

Nash is…oh well Nash. His life just keeps spiralling downhill. Things keep going wrong for him but it’s his fault, his actions have consequences just like everybody else. Sabine, seems to cool off a bit in this book, she helps Kaylee and is a shoulder to lean on for Nash. Emma is still the best friend and she’s great, she’s there for Kaylee no matter that she’s a banshee. She’s the best friend Kaylee needs when she needs a break from the non-human world.
I was expecting good book but not mind blowing awesome! I cannot wait to see what’s in store for the gang in Before I Wake, which I have waiting to be read. Eeek I’m so excited. This series has gotten better by each book and If I Die doesn’t disappoint! If I Die is a spectacular addition to the series, full of suspense and heartbreak, that keeps the reader gripping to the pages.

Favorite Quotes :

“That’s because Tod never brings anything but death and bad advice,” I snapped.
“That’s not true.” Tod tried to grin, “Sometimes I bring pizza.”

“You know, most girls sleep with a teddy bear or an extra pillow. But I gotta say, that’s kinda hot…”

“You think I need to be rescued?”
“I think it doesn’t hurt to let someone else do the rescuing every now and then, when your own armor starts to get banged up.”

“As a matter of fact, I was going to offer you something.”
“What did you have in mind?”
“A field trip. You interested in doing something dangerous, and possibly illegal?”
“Does it involve underage girls, broken curfews and assorted fruit toppings?”

“So … will you stay with me until it’s over? Please?”

“Kaylee, I would do anything for the girl who granted my dying wish.”

“There’s an us?”
“As far as I’m concerned…” He leaned forward, his mouth inches from mine, and my pulse spiked. “There’s nothing but us.”

“Because you don’t belong with him! I tried to tell you that, but you wouldn’t listen, and I thought if you understood that he’d be better off without you, you’d break up with him for his own good. So I…exaggerated how easy it’d be for him to get over you, with Sabine there to step in. But I underestimated how incredibly stubborn you are”
“I prefer to think of it as dedication…” I mumbled.”
